FAQ
Why heat pump is so much more efficient than purely electrical heating?
The reason is because the electricity used by the heat pump only powers the compressor. The heat produced comes from the air outside or inside the building, not directly from the electricity used. This means that with a modern heat pump, depending on the ambient air temperature, for every KW of electricity used, you get the equivalent of 3.0- 4.0 KW of cooling or 3.5 - 4.5 KW of heating.
Unlike heat pump, gas and solid fuel heating also need good ventilation to prevent potentially harmful carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide build up in the room, unfortunately this also allows the cold in, further reducing the effectiveness of this form of heating.
